Chairman’s Perspective: Time Flies, and I sure Had Fun

Time can be a fickle friend. You think it goes slowly when you are bored or doing repetitive tasks, but the opposite is also true. When you are happy, time flies by as quickly as a blink of an eye.

As Chairman of the MHEDA Board, this year has flown by in a blink of an eye for me, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I am now writing the last article as Chairman, and I can’t believe how fast the year has come and gone. Why did it fly by so fast?

First, we will start at the top. I have had the pleasure of working side-by-side with Liz Richards on all MHEDA events this year. The dedication, commitment, time and effort that she puts into each event is one of the reasons why MHEDA is the best association I have ever been involved with. Liz could not do what she does without the strength of her entire team. The MHEDA staff is the glue that holds MHEDA together and keeps it running at the highest levels, producing such high-quality events.

Why else has time flown by so quickly this year? Our industry is booming right now, and there is no end in sight. Brian Beaulieu’s comments at this year’s Convention were right on point as far as the leading indicators for our industry. The entire MHEDA Board has been another reason the year has flown by. The relationships I have made with each individual Board member are cherished relationships for me. As I am sending daughters off to college, it is good to know I have a second father for them in Ohio and Wisconsin (both current Board members that have offered their homes to my kids and given them their personal cell numbers for any emergency). The conversations that we have both in and outside of the Board meetings have helped Alliance grow our company significantly ever since joining the Board.

I would highly recommend to all dealer principals or executive team members that want to grow your business and create incredible, lifetime relationships to consider joining the MHEDA Board. I can assure you that the time it takes to be a good MHEDA Board member pales in comparison to the returns your bottom line will see from having conversation with the icons of our industry.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be your Chairman of the Board for MHEDA in 2022. Leaving the role of Chairman to become Mr. Irrelevant as the Past Chairman would normally lead me to believe that time might go by slower. That will not be the case because I am super excited to be involved with one of the most dynamic Board members with incredible ideas for our industry’s future. John Gelsimino is in line to be the 2023 MHEDA Chairman. I plan to put on my seatbelt and enjoy the fastest, most exciting year of my MHEDA Board journey. Good luck, John!
