MECO’s December Employee Spotlight: Ron Reed

Ron Reed has been with Modern Equipment Company, Inc for 34+ years. He started as a machine operator and progressed through the ranks to eventually make team lead.

Accomplishments at MECO:

I am proud of the changes I have seen over the years and the evolving nature of everything. I like to see the changes in my co-workers and see them progressing through the ranks and accomplishing things. I have liked being able to adapt through the changes and be productive throughout all these changes as well.

Best advice:

My advice for anyone is to not get frustrated with everyday things going on and try not to focus too much on what’s ahead and just focus on today. Be happy you are able to do your job and all the things involved with it.

Something else to accomplish:

When I retire I just want to have the available funds to be able to do what I want to do and travel. While I am still working at MECO, I just want to stay focused and stay productive.

Outside interests:

In my free time I enjoy jamming out to music and playing my bass guitar. I also like to get together with my old band and jam out. I also like to play EA Sports video games such as basketball. When I’m not playing video games or jamming out with my old band, I like to watch the Chicago Bulls play basketball.

Favorite vacation spots:

I have been to New York and Chicago and enjoyed these cities more than I thought I would. I would also like to visit California one day.

Favorite restaurant:

Most of them are closed for good now, but I love to eat at a seafood place called Yummy Crab here in Omaha.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I just like to work with my hands and create new things here at MECO. I like to see the products we have created here out in the field and in use. Years ago I really enjoyed learning how to program the plasma machines. After so many years, I can truly say I love my job and I never get burned out by it.
