Caster Concepts Inc., is a household name in Albion, Michigan. Thirty-five years ago Bill Dobbins set out to deliver quality products and outstanding service to every customer. Not only has Caster Concepts become a leader in industrial caster and wheel solutions, it has become a leader in the community.
“Making a profit is not bad, it’s what you do with that profit”, says Dobbins, president of Caster Concepts, referencing his support of Conscious Capitalism, a socially responsible economic and political philosophy.
As one of the only private ownerships in Albion, Dobbins says, “We like to invest where our employees live and where their families live. They have their own dreams and it’s our responsibility to help them achieve those dreams.”
Of the many great contributions the company has made to Albion, a few that are close to its heart are:
Run Albion: A 5k run organized by volunteers from Caster Concepts for the past four years.
Swingin’ at the Shell: A 15 year-long endeavor that utilizes a historic concert venue in town called the Band Shell.
Renovations and restorations to some of the oldest buildings and houses in downtown Albion. Recently, The Dobbins Family with support from Caster Concepts, furbished what is now called Brick Street Lofts, a trendy downtown apartment complex to enhance the city’s foot traffic and keep the city vibrant.
Lastly, every Caster Concept employee can share a nonprofit that is close their heart, and Bill will donate $200 to that charity. “My company has a responsibility to give to what is important in their lives,” says Dobbins.
