Burwell launches with mission to deliver smarter, safer solutions across Material Handling lifecycle.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Burwell Material Handling, formerly known as C & B Material Handling, is launching with a new name and clear purpose: helping operations run smarter and safer at every material handling stage.

This move follows the 2024 sale of its parent company’s agricultural equipment division and represents a pivotal new chapter for the future of the family-owned material handling solutions provider under the Burwell name.

“For nearly four decades, the Burwell family’s business roots have been grounded in finding creative ways to solve customer challenges,” said Peter Burwell, CEO of Burwell Enterprises. “Putting our name on this company signals our commitment to long-term investment and continued innovation, while delivering smarter, safer solutions that allow businesses to operate more efficiently and grow with confidence.”

A Full Lifecycle Approach to Keep Customers Moving

Recognizing that material handling sits at the heart of the modern supply chain, the company is focused on helping customers stay ahead.

“As the pace of logistics accelerates, our customers need more than equipment — they need insight, integration, and a partner that helps them solve what’s in front of them while preparing them for what’s next,” said Kent Senf, president of Burwell Material Handling. “That’s the opportunity we’re stepping into: to lead the industry in helping operations run safer, smarter, and with more control across every link in the supply chain.”

To address this mission, Burwell Material Handling is offering complete support across the material handling lifecycle, delivered through five core segments built to work together:

  • Equipment: Smart end-to-end equipment solutions that align with customer goals
  • Rental: Fast, reliable equipment options when productivity can’t wait
  • Parts & Service: Responsive, qualified technicians to keep equipment running
  • Connect & Protect: Technology to manage mixed fleets, reduce risks, and spot issues early
  • Engineered Solutions: Flexible, custom systems designed for distribution centers, warehouses, and facilities to scale safely and efficiently
A Partner Backed by Legacy, Built for What’s Next

Burwell Material Handling is built on a foundation of nearly 80 years of experience in material handling, drawing strength from prior brands that include Big River Equipment, Louisiana Lift, Allift, Wise Forklift, Jefferds Corporation, and Homestead Material Handling.

The company’s 18 branches serve customers across a wide geographic footprint that stretches from Montana to Illinois in the West and Midwest, Southern Ohio and Eastern Kentucky to West Virginia and Virginia in the Mid-South, and from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle in the South.

Equipment solutions offered at Burwell Material Handling span a range of leading brands, including Bobcat, Kion, Clark, Hyundai, Combilift, Taylor-Dunn, Genie, JLG, and more. Branch updates will roll out through the remainder of this year, and customers can expect to see refreshed looks to the stores, new brands and products, and additional services in the months to come.

“We’re just getting started,” Senf said. “We believe material handling is where safety, productivity, and growth should all come together for our customers, and we’re building a company that’s ready to take them to the next level of success.” For more information and to stay updated on the latest news and services, visit burwellmh.com.
