ALBION, MI – With skyrocketing prices at the pump and the checkout counter, Caster Concepts Inc., helps its employees cover the cost of commuting to work.
The company rewards perfect weekly attendance with $25 gas cards. So far, the industrial caster manufacturer has awarded more than $20,000 in gas cards since the program started in March.
“As a society, we punish bad behavior, so we decided to celebrate employees who show a commitment to their job by having perfect attendance, and being consistent and reliable,” said Caster Concepts President Bill Dobbins. “Helping them cover the increased cost of coming to work is our way of saying thank you while helping to fill a hole in their budgets.”
With the first day of school just a few weeks away, the company will reimburse team members $50 for their back to school-supply purchases. The program is part of Caster Cares (#CasterCares), the company’s philanthropic initiative that supports employees and the greater Albion community.
Through Caster Cares, the company covers the cost of the employees and their families to attend first-run movies at the town’s only movie theater, buy new books at the local bookstore and shop for fresh produce at a weekly farmer’s market. The company also sponsors community cleanups that spruce up the local post office, the downtown shopping district and local parks.
“We’re a small town where small businesses struggle,” Dobbins said. “If we can help our employees and our local businesses at the same time, then we’re doing good business.”
