Engaging Employees in a Disrupted World of Work: A Leader’s Playbook

Presented by Jason Lauritsen, Keynote Speaker, Trainer, and Author

While the pandemic has left little in our lives untouched, few things have been as impacted as profoundly as work. Where, when, and how work gets done looks very different today than it did in early 2020. Given this tremendous disruption, how can leaders ensure their people stay engaged and productive? What needs to be done differently in this new reality?

While much has changed, one key factor hasn’t. In this timely and important keynote, you will discover that the key to engagement, even during a crisis, is to remember that work is a relationship for the employee. Research has shown that employees crave the same things from work that they do from other meaningful relationships in their lives: appreciation, acceptance, communication, commitment, and support. You will learn how to improve employee engagement and performance by creating work experiences that feel like a healthy relationship, whether they work at home, in the office, or on the front lines.

Takeaways:

  • Employee engagement is about creating a great work relationship that feels healthy and positive
  • Six ingredients of a healthy relationship and how to apply them as a leader.
  • Tactics and recommendations for how to foster a better work relationship for employees regardless of where or how they do their work.

The Profound Power of Presence

Presented by Todd Cohen, CSP, Sales Speaker and Author

How you show up is how you will be remembered. Before a single word is spoken – in a split second -the decision to engage, trust, and buy is made. Everyone who interacts with the client share one common and powerful selling and customer service tool – Presence. Everyone who interacts with the client is selling themselves—and affirming the client’s decision to remain with your firm.

Your self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and personal presence is powerful and silent selling skill, and it can make or break your sales campaign, the possibility of promotion, advancement, and client satisfaction and retention. Presence leads to the “sale of you” and, by extension, your organization. Presence is the active decision on HOW you want people to “see” you, respect you, and trust you. It is how you show up and engage people. You must get this right. Your presence creates an indelible impression on others and profoundly influences their very desire to engage, work with you, buy you, and from you. And it all happens in a split second. If you are present and can show it, people will be more likely to work with you and be your customer.

Takeaways:

  • Introduce the concept of presence as a critical sales behavior and how the company stays “top of mind.”
  • Identify and practice 17 skills of presence in our everyday behavior.
  • Complete a “Presence Self-Assessment” and a “Presence Plan.”
  • Understand the basics of how Emotional Intelligence (E.Q.) influences the culture of the company.

Compassion: The Surprising Key to Unlocking Employee Performance

Presented by Jason Lauritsen, Keynote Speaker, Trainer, and Author

Over the past two years, it’s become clear just how important individual well-being is to employee performance. When employees aren’t well: mentally, physically, financially, or otherwise, they can’t perform at the best. At the heart of supporting well-being is ensuring that employees feel cared about as a person–not just for their work output. This isn’t a natural skill for most managers and isn’t something found in most management training programs. It demands that we not only better equip our managers to care for employees but also give them permission to do so. The most powerful ability that managers can develop to unlock performance through well-being is something you may not expect. It’s called compassion.

Takeaways:

  • Learn why managers and leaders must learn to practice compassion if they hope to retain their people and help them perform up to their potential.
  • Discuss what makes compassion more powerful than empathy in the workplace and how it’s developed.
  • Review examples of how to use compassion to foster employee well-being and unlock greater performance.

Presented by Brian Beaulieu, ITR Economics

Key segments of the US and global economy are experiencing a decelerating rate of rise while others are accelerating. We will assess the input from proven leading indicators and determine the opportunities and risks for the remainder of 2022 and for 2023 in pertinent segments of the economy. Labor, supply chain, and prices are top of mind for today’s business leader, and we will explore current and future trends and discuss what decision makers must consider in the face of these crucial factors. In addition, we will:

  • Assess business demand for the rest of 2022 and through 2023.
  • Look at ITR’s key leading indicators and what they foretell about your markets.
  • Present relevant market outlooks and discuss issues that have an impact on your profitability via resource allocation, budgets, expectations, and strategic planning.
  • Deliberate on the potential impact of the midterm elections later in the year.
  • Determine potential unintended consequences of massive government spending.
  • Assess the health of financial market trends and their impact, if any, on the forecasts.
  • Illustrate what inflation pressures and financial market trends likely mean for interest rates through 2023.
