Riekes Equipment Named 2026 BBB Torch Award Winner for Ethics
OMAHA, Neb. – The Better Business Bureau of the Midwest Plains has named Riekes Equipment a 2026 Torch Award for Ethics recipient, recognizing exceptional commitment to integrity and ethical business practices. As a local winner, Riekes now advances to the International Torch Awards for Ethics, with final selections announced this fall.
The Torch Awards honor businesses and nonprofits across BBB Midwest Plains’ five-state region (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota) that exemplify the Four Cs of Trust: Character, Culture, Customers and Community.
“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Duncan Murphy, President of Riekes Equipment. “This award reflects our daily commitment to ethical business practices and the trust our stakeholders place in us.”
For more than 90 years, Riekes has built its reputation on integrity, accountability and service. The company empowers employees at every level to uphold its Performance Guarantee, a promise that gives team members the authority to act in the customer’s best interest, solve problems and take ownership when expectations are not met.
“Integrity has never been a slogan at Riekes. It is how we make decisions, serve customers and support one another every day,” said Murphy. “This recognition belongs to our employees who consistently choose to do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Their commitment to our values has earned the trust of our customers, partners and communities for generations.”
Riekes also actively measures customer satisfaction through follow-up surveys and outreach programs designed to ensure service commitments are met. When challenges arise, employees are empowered to listen, take ownership and work toward solutions that strengthen long-term customer relationships.
Beyond its customers, Riekes invests in the communities it serves through employee volunteerism, educational partnerships and support for organizations that strengthen the skilled trades. Riekes also partners with schools, colleges and workforce development programs across the Midwest to help prepare the next generation of industry professionals.
“The organizations we celebrate this year have set a clear standard for doing business the right way,” said Josh Planos, Vice President of BBB Midwest Plains. “Their leadership in fostering ethical environments strengthens trust across our entire region.”
