Profit margin squeeze and general price inflation will be much more intense in the coming years, and businesses must know how to read the signals and deal with these stresses. Please join us for a discussion with Lauren Saidel-Baker on current inflation and interest rate trends, with a focus on ITR’s forecast for transient inflation in the near term building to systemic inflation by the latter half of the decade. A new and prolonged trend in interest rates lies before us; being on the “right” side of this trend will assist business profitability. Looking past the headlines and understanding the data will provide attendees with management tools for maintaining or increasing profitability amidst the changing landscape.

Program Format:

All sessions are 30 minutes and will start promptly at 2:00 p.m. CT/3:00 p.m. ET. This series will be offered through Zoom and presented in an interview format. Sessions will also be recorded and available on-demand.

ITR will provide participants an economic update and share trends they are noticing for the first 10-20 minutes. The last 10-15 minutes will be will be responding to questions from participating attendees. MHEDA members can submit questions at least 5 business days before the presentation for consideration with the registration below.

Lauren Saidel-Baker, CFA, ITR Economics
Lauren provides consulting services for small businesses, trade associations, and Fortune 500 companies across a spectrum of industries. Since joining ITR Economics, Lauren has brought enthusiasm and in-depth insight into various industry trends. She always exceeds her audiences’ expectations, and her experience in the financial industry supports her extensive knowledge of the applicability of ITR Economics. Lauren is a graduate of Wellesley College, double majoring in economics and religion. She has been featured on the Financial Sense Podcast, in Floor Covering Weekly magazine, and in the PHCP Pros online publication.

Ian Heller, President & COO of Modern Distribution Management
Ian is the Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer for Distribution Strategy Group, a research, consulting, analytics, and thought leadership firm that provides marketing and strategic planning expertise to the distribution industry. Ian started his career as a truck unloader at a branch of Grainger and left fifteen years later as their VP Marketing. Since then, Ian has served in similar marketing and management roles at GE Capital, HD Supply, Corporate Express, and Newark Electronics. Ian holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and is a popular writer, speaker, and consultant in the distribution industry.
