George Hennessy will retire as Chief Financial Officer of Lift, Inc. on October 1, 2026, concluding 11 years of steady leadership, quick humor, and lasting friendships.
George joined Lift in October 2015 from Clair Global, a provider of live sound and production services for the concert touring industry—trading the glamorous world of rock and roll for forklifts.
During his tenure, George helped guide Lift through one of the most significant chapters in its history. His financial leadership supported the company’s transition to employee ownership through an ESOP, extraordinary growth during the COVID years, and its evolution from a regional powerhouse into a business generating several hundred million dollars in annual revenue. Throughout that expansion, George helped Lift mature as an organization while remaining a strong advocate for its people and culture.
His impact reaches well beyond the financial statements. Known for his quick wit, approachable nature, and willingness to lend an ear, George has been a trusted sounding board and friend to colleagues throughout Lift and the material handling industry. His seemingly endless connections extend into his community, where the affectionate nickname “the mayor of Lancaster” captures his ability to know—and connect with—just about everyone.
Eleven years may be a relatively short chapter in a career, but George has filled it with hundreds of relationships and an influence that will endure long after his retirement.
George looks forward to playing more golf, traveling with his wife, Julie, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will also remain connected to Lift through service on its Board of Directors, continuing to contribute his experience and perspective as the company grows.
