Brent Grover's portion of the 60-minute webinar will focus on the financial performance of wholesale distributors during the extended and deep trough in the economic cycle, and the effect the recession is having on would-be acquirers as well as those who have been waiting for the right time to sell their distribution businesses. Brent will be talking mostly about smaller companies, looking both at a series of small acquisitions as a strategy to jump-start growth as well as exit strategies for smaller distributors.

Jonathan Skelly will cover such topics as historical and current valuation statistics for wholesale distribution, recent M&A activity within wholesale distribution and specific trends taking place today as well as expectations for the near term future. Jon will also cover best practices used by some of the most successful acquirers in the world of distribution and provide several recommendations for distributors that may be considering a sale of their business.

About the Speakers

 

Brent R. Grover is a 25-year distribution industry executive, consultant, speaker and writer on distribution business topics. His firm, Evergreen Consulting, LLC advises distributors and channel suppliers on strategy, profitability improvement and acquisitions. Brent is the author of six books for the NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence (formerly called DREF)including the best-selling Strategic Pricing for Distributors, published in 2009. Brent makes numerous presentations each year for distributor trade associations, distributors and manufacturers serving the distribution industry. He serves as a director of several distribution and manufacturing businesses.

 

Jonathan M. Skelly, Managing Director of Vetus Partners has over a decade of middle-market investment banking and corporate development experience with privately-held as well as publicly-traded, Fortune 500 enterprises focused on the wholesale distribution sector. Jon has worked with or for many of the distribution industry’s leading participants, such as W.W. Grainger, HD Supply and Hughes Supply. During his corporate distribution career, Jon served as Director of Strategic Business Development for HD Supply and Director of Mergers & Acquisitions/Strategic Business Development for Hughes Supply, Inc. Over his career Jon has executed transactions in the wholesale distribution sector with over $5.0 billion of total enterprise value.
